Busy airports are already setting records this year, but there are still a few affordable destinations travelers can seek out in 2025.
Flying to Charlotte, North Carolina, is one of the most budget-friendly spots in the country right now, according to data from Skyscanner that was shared with Travel + Leisure. In fact, domestic flights to the city start at just $95.
That was followed by Aguadilla in Puerto Rico where flights to paradise start at just $122. Denver, Colorado, is another affordable option (and perfect just in time for the heart of ski season) with flights starting at just $158 to the Mile High city, according to Skyscanner, while travelers can score flights to the Big Island in Hawaii starting at just $172.
When it comes to international destinations, Valparaiso, Chile, is one of the most budget-friendly options with flights starting at just $212, followed by $271 flight options to Calgary, Canada; $273 flight options to Madeira in Portugal; and $295 flights to Marsh Harbour in the Bahamas.
While affordable options do exist — and January is one of the most popular times to make trip decisions — Skyscanner said more than half of American travelers are plagued by a feeling of being overwhelmed when planning a trip.
Laura Lindsey, Skyscanner’s global travel trends expert, said in a statement shared with T+L that “planning your next adventure doesn’t have to be a daunting task,” recommending travelers take advantage of features like exploring everywhere to widen their options and searching for the cheapest month if their plans are more flexible.
“We want to make 2025 the year travel dreams finally take off,” Lindsey said.
Search engines like Skyscanner are one of the best ways to find flight deals, allowing travelers to search multiple online travel agents (OTAs) at once and even set price alerts.
