Frontier to Introduce a New ‘First Class-style’ Seat Next Year — What We Know so Far

Frontier Airlines is getting a glow-up in 2025 with a brand-new first-class-style seat and other perks like companion passes for loyal members.

The low-cost airline will introduce a new first class-style seat in the first two rows of its aircraft, offering a more spacious option for next year, Frontier shared with Travel + Leisure. Details on the new seats weren’t immediately available, but the airline said it will plan to roll it out in late 2025.

“Travelers should expect more from their airline and, in 2025, Frontier will deliver as we continue our transformation into the most rewarding airline in the sky,” Barry Biffle, the CEO of Frontier Airlines, said in a statement shared with T+L. “We’ve listened to customers, and they want more… These changes represent an exciting new chapter in our transformation into The New Frontier.”

Biffle added the new options prove “that premium travel doesn’t have to come with a premium price tag.”

Beyond the new seat, Frontier will introduce a slew of perks for loyal members, including free seat upgrades for Elite Gold members and above starting in early 2025. The upgrades will include the airline’s “UpFront Plus” option, which allows travelers to purchase seats in the first two rows with a blocked middle seat for added comfort, as well as the new first class seat when it is introduced.

In addition, Frontier will allow Platinum and Diamond Elite members to fly with a companion at no extra cost on any Frontier flight starting in mid-2025. These companion passes will be unlimited, but companion fares will be subject to government taxes and fees.

Frontier, which revamped its loyalty program this year, will start allowing customers to use miles to book bundled options like baggage or seats in addition to flights in mid-2025.

Frontier is an ultra-low cost carrier and charges for all extras from seat assignments to baggage allowance, but the airline did eliminate nearly all change and cancellation fees earlier this year.
