Q36.5 – Vincenzo Nibali Shark Collection
Alastair Hamilton PEZ sez: Vincenzo Nibali must be one of the top riders of his generation. He won all three Grand Tours (the Giro twice), one-day races and Classics, including the Giro di Lombardia (twice) and Milano–Sanremo, Italian National Road Race Championships twice and a lot of other races. He was born in Messina on the island of Sicily and his nickname is Lo Squalo di Messina (The Shark of Messina). Since his retirement at the end of 2022, he has been working for the Swiss Q36.5 UCI ProTeam. Q36.5 is a sports clothing company, if you have been living in a cave for the last 12 years, and they brought out a ‘Shark’ range of clothing to celebrate the career of the great Vincenzo.

Q36.5
‘The Shark?

I received ‘The Shark’ collection at the end of last year (thanks Tim Jackson), but the weather hasn’t been that good till recently, although I have been tempted on occasions, but was saving the kit ‘for best’. Q36.5 makes three different Shark designs, but for me it had to be the shark tooth design. I do like white and the black teeth design goes well with the black shorts.

Q36.5
‘The Walrus’? or…

As with all top quality cycle clothing these days, the Q36.5 kit comes beautifully packaged, it was a joy to unpack, like Christmas had come again.

Q36.5
Very well presented

The jersey is made using four different materials, the sleeves are aero ribbed, front feels like a slightly thicker material that also looks breathable and the rear looks similar but a bit thinner. Up the sides and the inner sleeve appears to be a more ‘normal’ lycra, then the pockets are made of a strong, yet nearly see-through material that reminds me of women’s black stockings.

Q36.5
A stunning look

A full zip, of course, with a zip-flap at the base and there is a rubberised elastic gripper cuff around the bottom of the jersey, so no riding up. There is a small collar, unlike many jersey going for an aero look, this is quite a ‘normal’ height. As it says on the collar ‘Innovation for Human Performance’.

Q36.5
You can see through the pockets

So how does it feel out on the road? You forget you have it on. The fit is snug, but the materials are not constricting. I was worried about the pockets, but with my iPhone, some cash and a small pouch with two inner tubes and levers, there was no stretch or feeling of the rear ‘drooping’ down. On the first ride there were a few other cyclist going the other direction and I’d like to think I received admiring glances.

q36.5
No drooping here

The bib shorts are the most important bit of clothing, or more precisely the pad. The Q36.5 pad doesn’t have fancy shapes or bright colours, just plain black with ‘three points of contact’ and ‘Q36.5 chamois technology’ written around the back. There is ample padding and on first inspection it feels like there would be too much, but there is no feeling of wearing something bulky between your legs. On the bike they do give a lot of comfort without chafing. Q36.5 seems to have placed the pad in just the right position, for me anyway. The first test ride was on the home trainer and there were no issues.

Q36.5
Classic black

The bibs are also a combination of different materials. A softer material on the front, breathable side panels and a stronger material at the base of the spine. The straps are wide and elasticated and connected at the back using what looks like the same material they use for the pockets on the jersey. The legs are held in place with cuffs using little dots, unlike other manufacturers, these don’t feel rubbery.

Q36.5
Again, different materials are used in different places

I rode the bibs for an hour on the home trainer and two hours in the ‘real world’ and they are comfortable, no complaints. ‘The Shark’ logo on the legs and back are not over the top, but do break up all that black. I would say that these are a well made pair of bibs, hard wearing and should see a lot of pleasurable use

Q36.5
The pad doesn’t look fancy or complicated, but it works

The bibs and jersey have all the matching accessories: Cap, mitts and socks. Starting with the cap, it’s made using breathable cloth, with five panels giving it a head shape. There are two dart panels to give it better fit. Living in a country where helmets are compulsory, I tend not to wear a cap, but would fit nicely under a helmet.

Q36.5
Matching cap, socks and (not) mitts

The socks are pzrticlulary nice to wear. Mostly white (unless you buy the black ones) and are of a sensible hight, sorry PEZ Tech Editor, Chuck Peña, but these are the correct hight, ‘ankle’ socks, not halfway up to your knees. They have extra padding behind the heel and under the sole, with thinner material round the ankle and another different patch at the front of the ankle. Nice touch; a slim Italian flag across the toe area.

Q36.5
The Q36.5 kit brought out the shark in me

There are matching mitts in either the tooth design or black, but Q36.5 sent me a pair of the Pinstripe Summer mitts. a good tight fit with padding where you need it and the pinstripe on the back is like the aero sleeve material.

Q36.5
Vincenzo Nibali the real ‘Shark’

To sum up the Q35.6 Nibali Shark collection, I like it. Comfortable and classy. I’ve not seen anyone else around my area wearing it, so it’s also unique. There does seem to be too many people going down the brown and pale shades these days. Everything fits and doesn’t flap in the wind. The bibs are comfortable, so far and the full set looks great. Although I doubt I’ll be mistaken for the real ‘Squalo di Messina’.

Q36.5

Zwift Ride 2024

Zwift, the global online fitness platform, is excited to launch Zwift Ride, an always-ready, complete indoor cycling setup ready to unlock the full Zwift experience. This innovative new take on the smart bike pairs a Zwift Smart Frame with a Smart Trainer, providing a convenient and shareable indoor bike for riding on Zwift. Zwift Ride with KICKR CORE will be priced at $1,299 and available in the US, UK, EU, Canada and Australia from launch. Riders can feel every undulation of Zwift’s virtual terrain with uncanny realism, bringing the outdoor cycling experience indoors.

Zwift Ride 2024

“We’re on a mission to make Zwifting easier by reducing the cost and complexity of hardware,” says Eric Min, Zwift CEO and Co-Founder. “Zwift Ride brings all of the advantages of a smart bike at an incredibly affordable price. It’s clean, it’s quiet, incredibly simple to set up and adjust, and can be shared with any member of the household. Importantly when I look at my Zwift Ride, it looks like it belongs in my home. I’ve been riding mine for many months and I can’t wait to share the experience with other Zwifters!”

Zwift Ride 2024

When designing Zwift Ride, simplicity had to be a key feature. It’s therefore fitting that the included ‘Zwift Key’ is all that Zwifters will need to set up and adjust their Zwift Ride. The Zwift Key is the only tool needed to assemble the Zwift Ride Smart Frame. Once assembled, the Zwift Key is securely stored in the top tube where it can be readily accessed to adjust the fit to any rider, making Zwift Ride perfect for sharing with multiple users. Saddle height, bar height, and reach are all adjusted via three clearly identifiable points on the frame. Suited to riders between 5ft (152cm) to 6ft 6 inches (198cm), riders can quickly find their fit using the included fit card.

Zwift Ride 2024

Integrated handlebars with dual control pads give you full control of Zwift from your handlebars. Navigate menus, give RideOns or deploy PowerUps with the simple touch of a button. Additional buttons at the base of the levers can be configured in the game to provide additional shortcuts, like Ride On’s and PowerUps – perfect when sprinting for the line!

Zwift Ride 2024

The integrated bike controllers also take care of all essential riding controls. Virtual shifting on the Zwift Ride is silent and delivers a perfect shift, every time. With gears suited to every Zwift terrain, Zwifters can select their preferred shifting style – Shimano, SRAM, or sequential.

Zwift Ride 2024

In addition to keeping game controls within reach, Zwift Ride also aims to keep your essentials right where you need them. Zwifting is thirsty work which is why Zwifters will find two bottle cages fitted to the frame. These cages are designed for indoor riding with an easy-to-access drop-in, lift-out cageless design. After all, there are no potholes to worry about in Watopia!

Zwift Ride 2024

A tray at the front of the bike also provides space for Zwifters to place their food, towel, and phone – ideal for having the Zwift Companion app and music to hand. The rubber cover is non-slip and can be removed for easy cleaning.

An optional tablet holder is available to Zwifters that use iOS or Android tablet devices. Priced at $49.99, the tablet holder seamlessly integrates with the front of the bike tray and securely holds the tablet via a quick-release fixing strap.

Colnago Fleur-de-Lys
Heir to the Renaissance, for a Tour de France that is already historic.

Colnago 2024

For the first time, the Tour de France will start from Italy. Florence, the city of Dante Alighieri, the cradle of the Renaissance, will host the Grand Départ of the 111th edition. Colnago, official bike of the Tour de France, celebrates this event with a unique bicycle: the Colnago Fleur-de-Lys, a special edition of a Colnago C68 produced in 111 numbered examples.

Colnago, official bike of the Tour de France, is glad to present the Colnago Fleur-de-Lys, an exquisite piece of art produced in 111 numbered examples as a tribute to Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance, that will host the Grand Départ of the 111th edition of the French Grand Tour, and to the lily symbol, the heraldic element that unites the history of the city of Dante Alighieri to the French nation.

Colnago 2024

Celebrating France and Italy, homelands of culture and cycling
The 2024 Tour will unite France and Italy. Two central nations in the history of European and world culture. Not only the ‘high’ culture of the great philosophers and men of letters, painters and sculptors, but also its most common expressions. It is the aesthetics of the everyday. That all-European ability to take the humblest things in life and treat them to the point of making them art. The excellence of the two countries in food, clothing, and design comes to mind. But it is also the case with the humblest of means of transport: the bicycle.

It is in these two countries that cycling as a sport was born and achieved its glorification. From Milan-San Remo to Paris-Roubaix, from the Giro d’Italia to the Tour de France. These two countries have always been the blank page on which the most formidable champions, challenging each other, have written their legends. Garin, Girardengo, Petit-Breton, Bottecchia, Pellissier, Bartali, Bobet, Coppi, Anquetil, Gimondi, Hinault, Saronni, Fignon, Bugno, Virenque, Nibali… heroes of an epic that, for more than a century, has brought the masses together by the side of the road, children and the elderly hand in hand, to cheer on the champions of the future and to recount the great feats of the past.

Colnago has interpreted this connection through a bike, the C68 Fleur-de-Lys, which features the fleur-de-lys as a key design element, being the lily, a symbol full of significance both for Florence and for France.

Colnago 2024

Paying homage to the Fleur-de-Lys
Attention to detail, excellent craftsmanship and use of cutting-edge technology characterise Colnago bicycles since the very first beginning, in 1954. This special bike for the 2024 Tour de France is no exception, expressing the savoir-faire and artistry of Italian manufacturing in a tribute to the culture and history that unite the two countries.

This special C68 features the fleur-de-lys as a key design element. The French lily is serially reproduced on the top tube in gold on a Bleu de France-coloured metal leaf field. This pattern – in addition to being a tribute to a recurring coat of arms in French royal iconography – echoes the pattern of the frescoes in the Sala dei Gigli, one of the most beautiful rooms in the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, the venue for the presentation of the teams and the starting point of the first stage of the Tour.

Not only that, the frieze of the pediment at the entrance to Palazzo Vecchio, under which the riders pass on the day of the team presentation, also features a background of lilies on a blue field. A reminder, again, of the French, protectors of the Florentine Republic.

Colnago 2024

They are symbols of a closeness – between the Tuscan city and France – that between sympathies and antagonisms has lasted for centuries. They are synapses of a great, deeply interconnected European cultural history, a web that unites historical events, art and literature, culminating in great moments of popular aggregation – such as the Tour de France, with its epic of great champions.

The lily decorative element is therefore not only a visual tribute, but also embodies the spirit of cooperation and friendship between the two nations.

By integrating the symbols of Florence and France, Colnago has created a symbol of unity and beauty, perfect for such a prestigious sporting event. The bike thus becomes a tangible symbol of this historic event and is itself transformed into a moving work of art.

The pinnacle of Italian craftsmanship at the service of the most fascinating Grand Tour
The Colnago Fleur-de-Lys is the latest work of art created in the laboratory of Cambiago.

Every Colnago is a wonderful bicycle to ride, but we reserve a special treatment for some projects that give us the possibility to unleash all our creativity and artistry. The Colnago Fleur-de-Lys is an example of such a project, being a limited edition bike based on the frame of a C Series, the C68.

Hence, similarly to all the C Series bikes in our range, it is handmade in Italy and is based on a modular frame, which means that the bike triangle is made of carbon fiber tubes and joints glued together thanks to a special technique that we refined through the years. While this characteristic gives a very friction-less riding experience, it also adds a touch of tradition to the bike, since nowadays this building construction is becoming more and more rare.

To glue together the pieces – to reach a result such as that of the C68 – requires time, patience and a unique savoir-faire, a tradition that, as Colnago, we are truly committed to defend and continue.

Bleu-de-France metal leaf finishing
At first glance, what makes this bicycle stand out is the Bleu de France-coloured metal leaf on the frame, which shines, and gives mesmerizing reflections.

This effect requires the leaf finishing to be applied each time by hand, with the result that the texture changes from one frame to the other, making each of the 111 examples simply unique.

Colnago 2024

The Fleur-de-Lys pattern
On this wonderfully rich and blue background, a pattern composed by 15 small lily flowers applied by gold leaf embellish the horizontal tube, introducing the key design element of the bicycle, which also name it: the Fleur-de-Lys.

Colnago 2024

The Colnago CC.01 Tour de France special limited edition
The Colnago Fleur-de-Lys mounts a special limited edition of the Colnago CC.01 handlebar, which comes with a special incision on the cap of the steering tube, the rich-in-history logo of the Tour de France.

Colnago 2024

The fork
On the bottom of the fork it’s possible to appreciate the Colnago x TdF logo, as well as the indication of the number, out of 111, of this limited edition bike.

Colnago 2024

Dedicated components
The bike is further enriched by the making of some specific components, created in concert with some of our most trusted suppliers such as Prologo, Enve, Carbon-Ti, MyLime, and CeramicSpeed.

Colnago 2024

111 Numbered Pieces for the 111th Tour de France
Colnago limited editions are now universally recognized and appreciated by collectors all over the world.

The Colnago Fleur-de-Lys, available in only 111 specimens, is no exception, and represents a real gem, seen its particularly refined and regal livery.

Each bike is signally numbered, with the evidence of the number on the fork, and is delivered with a special volume that tells the story and the cultural background that inspired the Colnago Fleur-de-Lys.

Tadej Pogačar & Colnago Fleur-de-Lys number 1 of 111
The Entry Door of Palazzo Vecchio is surmounted by a marble decorative plaque with two lions and the French Fleur-de-Lys flower.

The Presentation of the 2024 Tour de France teams will start from Palazzo Vecchio, the City Hall of Florence to Piazzale Michelangelo.

We’ve agreed with ASO and UAE Team Emirates that Tadej Pogačar will ride the Colnago Fleur-de-Lys number 1 of 111 during the team presentation (27th of June). The ride will start exiting from Palazzo Vecchio’s entry door pictured here.

The number 1 will be auctioned by Sotheby’s during the 2024 Tour de France (auction will start on the first rest day and end on the second rest day, running during the second week of racing).

Data Recovery System – In the event of unexpected system crashes or data disconnection from the rider’s end, data is saved in the system and can be recovered when next logged in to MyWhoosh.

Offline mode – For an uninterrupted experience, the game shifts to offline mode if the user gets disconnected. The rider’s progress continues but without other avatars. Once reconnected, the rider’s position is reflected in the interim offline progress.

MyWhoosh

Features
MyBunch 24/7: Users can choose groups of bot riders segmented by predefined watts/kg and speed. Once selected, riders will be teleported directly to the MyBunch group that will be riding at the pace they have selected. These bots will be grouped in sets of 6-8, and when joining, riders will have buffer time of 60 seconds (power assist) to pace up to the power of the bots. These MyBunch groups will be available on a variety of routes, and each bot group will have a distinct jersey colour. The aim is to give a lifelike community experience, with bots mimicking the behaviour of real riders, giving players the sensation of being part of an actual riding group.

Sponsored Jersey for events – Communities will now be able to apply to have custom jerseys in-game. The jerseys will only be available for riders that join the community rides. The hosts of community rides can submit their jersey designs to be incorporated into the library.

Chase Race – This is a premium event where riders can compete in one race matched with people with similar abilities. Each group of riders will be given a head start over stronger riders in the race and the first one to cross the finish line will be the winner. The races are open for both female and male riders, enabling any rider to compete in the same space.
