Protein-Packed, Store-Bought Snacks

There are a number of store-bought snacks that are higher in protein and pack well for picnics. Here are some considerations for your next picnic.

  • Deli meats & canned fish: Higher-in-protein options include tuna or salmon packs, sliced deli turkey or turkey pepperoni, and deli or rotisserie chicken.
  • Nuts & seeds: Nuts highest in protein include almonds, pistachios, pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds and sunflower seeds.
  • Cheese: Cheeses highest in protein include parmesan, pecorino, feta, mozzarella and Swiss.
  • Quest Tortilla Protein Chips (Nacho Cheese): Quest tortilla chips are tasty high-protein, low-carb chips that are fashioned after Doritos and come in similar flavors (nacho cheese, ranch, etc.). Although the chips are somewhat similar in taste, just be aware that the Quest chips are not as crispy and crunchy. For a full review of low-carb chips, click here.
  • Quest Cheese Crackers: Quest cheese crackers are one of the tastiest high-protein, low carb crackers in the market. They’re crunchy, full of cheese flavor, and somewhat similar to Cheez-Its (but don’t expect them to taste like regular Cheez-Its). For a full review of low-carb crackers, click here.
