Honey-glazed salmon is a delicious and popular way to serve this flavorful fish rich in omega-3 fats.

However, all the recipes I’ve seen over the years involve heating the honey to high temperatures while the salmon is baked, grilled, or pan-fried.

According to traditional dietary wisdom, raw honey should never be cooked.

Specifically, Ayurvedic principles warn that consuming honey that has been cooked, baked, or otherwise added to hot liquids contributes to ill health over time.

Heated honey molecules become glue-like which adhere to mucous membranes in the digestive tract producing toxins and harming beneficial digestive flora.

Thus, if you wish to enjoy a delicious honey glaze on your salmon, avoid heating it while the fish is cooking.

My solution is to simply add the honey to the glaze sauce immediately before serving.

Problem solved with no loss of flavor!

Honey Glazed Salmon

Ridiculously easy recipe for honey-glazed wild salmon that will have you eating this nutritious fish rich in omega-3 fats more often than ever!

Instructions

  1. Grease a stainless steel pan that fits inside your toaster oven with 1 tablespoon of butter. This ensures easy removal of the salmon from the pan without using foil.

  2. Place the 4 salmon fillets skin side up in the greased pan. Cooking it skin side up ensures that the oils in the skin filter down through the meat while the fillet is cooking. This ensures a moist result. I got this tip years ago from a chef!

  3. Place pan in the toaster oven and switch the setting to dark toast (4.5 minutes).

  4. Press start and let the fish toast until the oven automatically switches off.

  5. Switch the toast setting to medium (2.5 minutes). Press start and once again let the fish toast on this lower setting until the oven switches off.

  6. Let the fillets sit in the heat of the toaster oven after it switches off while you prepare the honey glaze.

  7. In a small saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter.

  8. For 2 minutes, cook the minced garlic in the butter on medium-low heat until the garlic is just browned.

  9. Stir in the soy sauce and cook for 1 additional minute on low heat. Remove the pan from the stovetop and set aside for a few minutes to slightly cool.

  10. Remove the salmon from the toaster oven and place the fillets on plates.

  11. Stir in the fresh lemon juice and raw honey into the pan with the warm sauce until well mixed. Immediately drizzle 1-2 tablespoons of the honey garlic glaze over each fillet.

  12. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
