Kilian Jornet and Emilie Forsberg are expecting their third child

Mountain athlete Kilian Jornet and his partner, Emelie Forsberg, who live in western Norway, have announced they are expecting their third child. The couple have two daughters, ages five and three.

Jornet’s most recent project was a fastest known time (FKT) he called “Alpine Connections,” which involved summitting 82 4,000-metre Alpine peaks in only 19 days, and travelling between peaks via running and cycling. (The previous record of 62 days was set in 2015 by Swiss alpinist Ueli Steck, who used a combination of cycling and paragliding.) Earlier this summer, he won the famed Sierre-Zinal trail race in Spain–for the 10th time. (The race, which is part of the Golden Trail World Series and the World Mountain Running Association World Cup, covers 31 km, with 2,200 metres of ascent, including summitting five 4,000m peaks.) In May, he claimed his 11th win at Zegama-Aizkorri, a similarly technical and iconic trail marathon, also in Jornet’s native Spain.

Forsberg, who is originally from Sweden, is a highly accomplished elite trail and mountain athlete in her own right. Forsberg competed at this year’s MaXi Race European Off-Road Championship in France, where she finished 21st in the elite women’s up & down race. (She also finished second at the Trail Cap de Creus race in Spain.)

Jornet launched his NNormal trail-running shoe brand in 2022. He is a four-time winner (and former course record holder) of UTMB 176K in Chamonix, France, most recently in 2022.
