Sweet Lemon Glaze For Muffins, Breads, Cookies and More…
The very first time I made this lemon glaze, I thought, “What else can I put this on?” Perhaps muffins… or cake, or peaches? Maybe I should just drizzle it right into my mouth. That’s how good this lemon glaze for muffins is.
But remember, you can glaze anything and everything you’d like. (Including your tongue.)

Lemon glaze is one of the simplest sweet treats for adding an extra oomph to your desserts. With just 2 ingredients, you’re on your way to glazing and dazzling the heck out of your guests.
- 1st ingredient: confectioners’ sugar
- 2nd ingredient: fresh-squeezed lemon juice
How to Make Lemon Glaze
Think the ingredients list is short and easy? Wait ‘til you see how easy it is to make.
First, simply bake and cool any baked goods you’d like to glaze.
Then, start the glaze by adding powdered sugar and one tablespoon of lemon juice to a small bowl.
Whisk together both ingredients until super well mixed and the sugar is dissolved. It’ll be very thick.
If you find the glaze too thick to stir, even after a bit of patience–the two ingredients take a bit of stirring to truly meld, then add a small trickle of lemon juice and whisk.
Once the lemon glaze is pourable but very thick, it’s time to stop. 😉
Once you’re satisfied with the texture, drizzle over your desired baked goods. Allow to firm up and enjoy!

Silky sweetness and fresh lemon tart flavor make a deliciously simple lemon glaze for muffins, breads and your mouth (trust me, you won’t be able to resist). Plus, recipes to use your lemon glaze on!
- Add powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice to a medium mixing bowl.
- Whisk together until very thick and well mixed. If needed, add in up to 1 additional tablespoon lemon juice to reach desired thickness—start by whisking in just a splash of lemon juice until very thick and glaze falls off the spoon slowly while holding its shape.
- You don’t want to over-liquefy the glaze. However, if it gets too thin, simply add in more powdered sugar to thicken.
- The texture you’re aiming for is very thick, just pourable glaze that falls very slowly off the spoon, thicker than honey.
- Pour over semi-cooled baked goods like muffins and breads.
