This is Arop’s fastest time of the 2024 season so far and the eighth time he has run under 1:44 in his career. It is also the fourth Diamond League win of his career.
Arop had a remarkable 2023 season, winning his first world title over 800m and setting a new Canadian record of 1:42.85 at the Diamond League final in Eugene, Ore.
Less than 100 days from the Paris Olympic Games, Arop will be one of the gold medal favourites in the men’s 800m event.
