What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?

My daughter was my motivation. She was in middle school and was an extremely busy athlete. It was getting difficult to keep up with her without becoming winded. I also found out I had high blood pressure and was borderline diabetic. I was too young to have these health issues, so I knew I had to do something.

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?

I had a gastric bypass in July 2018 and a panniculectomy in November 2020.

How did you change your eating habits?

After my first appointment with my bariatric surgeon, I began to prepare my mind mentally for weight loss surgery. I started walking more, and my diet consisted of mostly high protein and veggies. There wasn’t a specific amount of weight I was asked to lose before surgery, but I did have to show I was making progress.

What is your workout routine?

I love power walking and cycling.

How often did you work out?

I get an average of 12-15,000 steps a day at work. Other than that, I power walk 3 days a week and cycle twice a week.

What was your starting weight? 351 pounds

What is your current weight? 168 pounds

What is your height?
I’m almost 5’8″.

When did you start your journey? I started in September 2017.

How long did your transformation take?

Post gastric bypass, I lost 100lbs in six months. I’m still transforming, so I lost the other 80+ pounds over the years.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far? I’m accountable for my success. My healthmy life!

What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight? Make sure your goals are yours! If I had listened to the opinions of others, I would not be where I’m today. Even throughout my transformation, I had people telling me I was losing too much weight. Set your goals for yourself and crush them for YOU!
