MANILA, Philippines — The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) Terminal 3’s chillers were shut down Friday due to “high operational temperature,” according to the Manila International Airport Authority (Miaa).

The Miaa explained that the trouble was observed at Chillers 1, 2, and 4 of Naia Terminal 3 on August 22.

Miaa General Manager Eric Jose Ines advised travelers at Naia Terminal 3 to wear light clothes, bring fans, and drink plenty of water while the problem is being solved.

“As a precautionary and necessary measure to prevent potential major damage to the entire cooling system, Miaa was constrained to temporarily shut down the chillers to determine the cause of the problem,” Miaa said in a statement.

Miaa added that descaling, cleaning, and swabbing procedures were already conducted on the troubled chillers.

To ease the discomfort of passengers at the airport, Miaa said cooling fans have been deployed to affected areas.

“While troubleshooting activities are expected to be completed tomorrow morning, improved temperature levels may be anticipated by noontime,” Miaa also said.
