Noma Chef René Redzepi On His New Apple TV+ Docuseries

In this upcoming food-centric docuseries, ingredients are the stars.

On Thursday, Apple TV+ announced its long-awaited premiere date and first look for documentary series, Omnivore created and narrated by René Redzepi the famed chef and co-owner of the acclaimed three-Michelin star restaurant Noma.

“This show is a testament to what makes food truly remarkable — the ingredients, the people, the stories, the sheer magic of cooking,” Redzepi exclusively told Travel + Leisure. “Omnivore isn’t just a food show; it’s a journey into the soul of food culture and its vibrant community.”

First announced in 2022, each episode both celebrates and dives into the “cultivation, transformation, and consumption of the world’s most essential eight ingredients,” which are banana, chile, coffee, corn, pork, rice, salt, and tuna, and explains how they also became the “cornerstones of global cultural heritage” and how they all “bind us” together, Apple TV + shared in its announcement.

“Through the lens of eight unique ingredients, we traverse our delicious planet and meet the diverse people who inhabit it We’ve trekked across five continents, unearthing countless stories along the way,” Redzepi told T+L. “This journey has reinforced one undeniable truth: food is everything. You can tell any story worth telling through what we cook and how we eat. Because food is never just food; it’s a window into our lives, our history, and our world.”

The show covers all corners of the globe including Denmark (the home of Noma) along with stops in Serbia, Thailand, Spain, Japan, Djibouti, Peru, South Korea, France, Colombia, India, Bali, Rwanda, and Mexico, and throughout the United States.

Redzepi created the show alongside Emmy Award-winning executive producer Matt Goulding, who worked with the late Anthony Bourdain for his show Anthony Bourdain: Explore Parts Unknown.
