Sweden’s Mondo Duplantis is one of the biggest stars in track and field. The 25-year-old pole vault sensation has broken the men’s world record seven times, continually raising the bar—both literally and figuratively. But Duplantis’s fame extends far beyond the track and field world. As the face of Red Bull and a Vogue cover model, he’s become an icon. Now, he’s stepping into a new spotlight, bridging the gap between track and field and pop culture by starring in a music video alongside his fiancée, Desiré Inglander.
On Friday, Jan. 24, Norwegian electronic artist and producer Kygo is set to release a new single, Chasing Paradise, with American pop-rock band OneRepublic. The official music video, featuring Duplantis and Inglander, will premiere on YouTube on the same day.
The song is about the highs of a relationship and savouring the good moments. Based on the video trailer, Duplantis and Inglander were filmed in a tropical paradise, with steamy shots of the couple canoodling on the beach and in the ocean.
At just 25, Duplantis has already achieved everything in the pole vault world. He’s a two-time Olympic champion, a four-time world champion (indoors and outdoors), he has dominated the Diamond League circuit for four consecutive years and he has set the world pole vault record no fewer than seven times. He even stepped outside his specialty last year to race Norwegian 400m hurdles star Karsten Warholm in a 100m sprint at the 2024 Zurich Diamond League (and won).
Off the track, Duplantis’s life has been equally eventful. After wrapping up his stellar 2024 season, he proposed to Inglander in a Vogue Scandinavia-orchestrated engagement that went viral. The couple plans to tie the knot in 2025, likely after Duplantis competes for his third consecutive world pole vault title at the World Championships in Tokyo in September.
