One of the Most Luxurious Trains in the World Is Bringing Michelin Chefs to Serve World-class Meals — What to Know

A British train is taking opulence to the next level thanks to Michelin-starred chefs and elevated meals on board some of the most luxurious carriages in the world. 

The British Pullman, A Belmond Train, is bringing back its celebrity chef dinner series this spring, inviting four different Michelin-starred chefs to bring their unique takes to the elegant ride, the company shared with Travel + Leisure. Each meal will take place over five courses and includes welcome Champagne, a wine pairing, and a roundtrip ride on the train. 

Each dinner costs $686 per person.

“We are excited to launch a new chef series which showcases the various facets of the British culinary landscape on the British Pullman, with internationally acclaimed chefs expanding its presence into new destinations and new fusion cuisines,” Craig Moffat, the general manager of the British Pullman, said in a statement shared with T+L. “The series is a true celebration of the fine dining experience that has made the train a cherished icon, seamlessly blending its rich heritage with the dynamic evolution of modern British cuisine.” 

To start, chef Theo Randall is returning to the train on April 18. Randall, known for his many years cooking at the Michelin-starred The River Café in New York City, said he will focus on using springtime seasonal ingredients to create a unique menu.

Then on May 22, chef Phil Howard, who held two Michelin stars for over a decade, will design a French menu fitting for the train’s opulent settings.

On June 13, chef Andrew Wong — his eponymous restaurant A. Wong in London holds two Michelin stars — will bring his innovative takes on Chinese cuisine to the rails. 

Finally, on Oct. 24, chef Atul Kochhar, who once helmed the first Indian restaurant in the world to earn a Michelin star, will celebrate creative British Indian cuisine on board.

The train itself is one of the most luxurious in the world, featuring several restored vintage carriages, including one completely redesigned by Wes Anderson. It runs from February to December and brings travelers on roundtrip daily journeys across the British countryside.

In addition to the chefs series, the train offers other themed trips, including murder mystery lunches and cabaret dinners.
