There won’t be too many people who have affected the National Basketball Association like Jerry West. After all, he is ‘The Logo’! So, it was with great sadness that the basketball community came together when West’s death was announced on June 12, 2024. Many NBA top names and fans from around the world posted their condolences for the legend that he was. Needless to say, there were quite a few whose lives ‘Mr. Clutch’ touched deeply. And Paul George was one of them.
In fact, PG dubbed West as the “NBA Father” to showcase the depth of his respect for the man. But he wasn’t done. In the latest episode of his Podcast P, George has a suggestion to the league. “I think the NBA should do him a solid, do the family a solid,” he said. Wondering what PG13’s idea of a solid is?
“You gotta retire the number [44] league-wide.” The only player the NBA extended this honor to was the Celtics legend, Bill Russell. So, you can imagine the kind of standing and respect Paul George has for Jerry West.
