Polygon’s current full-power Siskiu eMTB trail bikes use Shimano’s EP-series drive units with a large 504Wh and 630Wh batteries and a simpler four-bar, Horst Link suspension design. That layout is a departure from their IFS 6-bar linkage system on the longer travel Collosus enduro bikes (both electric and analog), and this new Siskiu TLE-R adds another design to the mix.
It has a unified rear triangle rotating on two different lower links to control its motion. It looks solid, and like the IFS it should give them good control over anti-squat and anti-rise for smooth pedaling without compromising suspension performance.
A third upper link drives the shock forward, inline with the top tube. With three links, I’m thinking it should have minimal lateral load on the shock, helping it last longer and run smoother. It has 150mm rear wheel travel paired with a 150mm Fox 36 Performance Elite fork.
The top tube has a cutout, which may help you set sag on your own, but also likely gives the air can a little room to move up and down as the rear swingarm articulates upward. Creating space for that with a cutout lets them get the top tube as low as possible for increased standover clearance and a low center of gravity, too.
Target weight is in the low forties (pounds), and it goes on sale in August 2024. Pricing TBA. We’ve inquired about the motor and output and will report back. In the meantime, here’s something shiny to distract you:
This bright blue anodized Collosus DH9 had a deep glimmer that caught the sun just right and made it look ultra blue. Note the fade from a darker blue at the bottom, and a few speckles throughout made this one of the best finishes I saw at Sea Otter.
