As the Absa Cape Epic nears its end, Canyon just dropped a custom team replica bike, i.e. this limited edition Canyon Lux World Cup CFR Untamed.
Inspired by the national animal of South Africa β the springbok antelope β Canyon then, painted the bikes of their two Canyon-Sidi team duos in a golden, brown & white that could blend in with the herd.

The special Untamed edition bike is the same Canyon Lux World Cup CFR introduced 2 summers ago. But here the 1575g CFR frame is built up with an extra centimeter of fork suspension to slightly slacken it out and take on more aggressive terrain. Built with top-level DT Swiss 232 One suspension, the 29er Lux WC CFR Untamed features 100mm of rear wheel travel mated to a 110mm fork for its XC marathon build.

But, Canyon made just 100 of these special XC race weapons for the 20th-anniversary edition of the premier South African MTB stage-race. They offer them in the full five-size range (XS-XL), but numbers seem limited in certain sizes. My size Large says it would be delivered in 3-10 working days, though.
The Canyon Lux World Cup CFR Untamed edition sells for 8000β¬ with this pro-replica XTR build. You get 110/100mm DT Swiss 232 One suspension, and unreleased all-new DT Swiss XRC 1200 carbon wheels β at a claimed 10.44kg complete. Thatβs certainly not cheap. But in a world of 10,000β¬+ superbikes with all-electronic automatic everything, thereβs something to be said for classic light mechanical setups.
