The Ribble Rebellion race team is set to ride the 2024 Armed Forces Cycling Classic on Ribble’s P-51 Mustang & Spitfire limited editions of the Ribble Ultra SL R road bikes.
Ribble is a UK brand with global presence and over the past years has been innovatively challenging the sport and the industry with inspiring product and an exciting bold approach.
The RIBBLE REBELLION is the latest racing incarnation from the dynamic brand – a crit team designed with the sole purpose to disrupt the global crit scene. With ‘Colour Clash’ kit and that distinctive aero-optimised Ultra SL R, RIBBLE REBELLION has been ripping up US crits. Stealing podiums at Redlands and Speedweek the squad are on manoeuvres ready to race the Armed Forces Cycling Classic on some very special machines.
Designed to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings, Matthew Bostock (UK) will be riding Ribble’s Forces Edition Ultra SL R and Cole Davis (USA) will be racing on Ribble’s P-51 Mustang Ultra SL R. Both bikes have taken their design inspiration from British and US aeroplanes used in World War II and in liberating Europe on D-Day.
Ribble’s Sasha Castling commented: “Working with Rob at Armed Forces Cycling Classic, we realised just what a special event this was. It’s our first time at this race and being invited is such a huge privilege. We thought it would be a fitting tribute to honour all armed services with these unique Ribble race machines.
The British Spitfire inspired Ultra SL R Forces Edition was originally created to coincide with London Poppy Day last year featuring the D-Day invasion stripes as acknowledgement to the lead up to the 80th Anniversary of the allied D-Day invasion.
This year, with the celebration of the allied D-Day invasion on 06/06/24 and the Armed Forces Cycling Classic scheduled the weekend beforehand, we relished the opportunity to create a P-51 Mustang inspired design with its striking yellow nose and metallic silver fuselage for American rider Cole Davis who will be joined by Matthew Bostock riding the British Spitfire.
