Do you ever hear a lot about a brand, but just haven’t tried it and well you’re nervous to spend money and not like it? Ok, glad it’s not just me. As a result of that, I’ve been missing out on the great things from Senita Athletics for awhile! Here’s a full review to help you understand sizing, fit and more.
About 5 or 6 years ago, I met the founders of the brand. They were two incredible women with a passion for helping women find good gear that wasn’t quite so pricey. In the early days it was cute, but I admit the pants fell down when I ran or just started to sag.
That is NO LONGER the case.
It’s 100% obvious to me why tons of you told me on Instagram repeatedly that this was a brand I needed to review.
Not only is it made by women, but they genuinely are focused on all women. They have some of the most inclusive sizing I’ve seen, as well as athletic gear for maternity.
Who is Senita Athletics Good For?
Who is Senita good fit for, let’s break it down by some common categories:
- Petite Runners: Options down to XXS and different lengths in shorts
- Heavier Runners: So, so. They go up to an XXL in most items, which is better than most brands.
- Long Runs: Stays put, designed to wick, all the good things.
- Casual: They have specific casual items which are fantastic.
Overall, based on not just my runs, but so many of you I think this brand is going to work for a wide variety of bodies and workouts.

Senita Athletics Overview
You’ll find a full line up of gear for every workout from running to yoga to gym time. And most importantly, ok not most, but highly important they have pockets that fit your phone and don’t move!
Really most important is they’re creating quality gear that fits the female body at really good prices. The leggings all feel super soft (yup that same buttery description that Lulu gives for many items), but they also offer a ton of colors. In a recent Instagram poll, about 2000 of you said that you like big, bold bright colors in your gear! So congrats, you will find that here.
How does Senita Fit?
One of the things I love on their site is you’ll see the information about height, bust, hips, waist and size that any model is wearing. OMG how useful to see a real human and be able to adjust based on your own information.
I’m going to admit right now that I’m all over the place when sizing myself in different brands. I hate things that are too tight or shorts that give me a muffin top even if it means they stay put.
Here’s a look at the small (copper) laid on top of the medium baseline shorts. You can see it’s not big jumps in sizing, but having run in both I think for me personally the medium ended up feeling just a little better around the waist. Again I have a real issue with things being too tight, don’t like it.
The next issue for me is often that I’m almost 5’9″ and leggings invariable run short. They make it look like I’m wearing capri’s or just clearly pants that aren’t long enough.
So I tested out their Lux leggings in both a regular and ordered the 29inch.
Turns out the regular is 26 inches for the inseam, so I wanted to put on both to see how that actually fit. I really do have LONG legs and short torso (probably also why the high waisted things feel so dang high to me as you’ll see below).
THANK YOU Senita for offering a variety of lengths to help us leggy gals out.
Run Shorts with Pocket – Baseline Shorts
One of the first pieces I wanted to test were their running shorts with a phone pocket. I don’t remember how I functioned before finding shorts with pockets, but I assume it was a dark time.
Not only did I want to test the fit, but I went bold and picked a COLOR (copper from the top). Yes, that’s right I immediately put the shorts to the “does it look like I peed myself when I sweat” test and they passed! Fantastic that they do colors for different seasons, but these burnt orange ones will be in my life for a long time.
I liked the 5 inch length to avoid any chafing issues. The pocket easily kept my phone in place with no bouncing and no pulling at the shorts, probably due to the higher waist line and the snug fit.
Winter Run Shirt –Tempo Long Sleeve
Also pictured above is one of their long sleeve active shirts. I have taken it out for a few runs and it’s that thickness level which is going to make a jacket unnecessary in the 40’s and probably end up rolling up your sleeves if it gets any warmer.
I opted for a small in the shirt and love the fit. It’s form fitting without being clingy.
Seamless I had no issues with anything rubbing in weird places and of course they also have thumb holes which makes it easier to keep the sleeves pulled down on those chilly mornings (or when I pull on a jacket).
Pocket Sports Bra – Sarah
Listen, I can’t give you a lot of feedback on support from my own personal experience. BUT that’s why we have other testers and it has come back with a resounding yes they feel supported AND love the back phone pocket.
The pocket is situated right between the shoulder blades, which means you probably aren’t pulling it out during the run for a lot of photos, but you also aren’t worried about it bouncing or moving.
Again there are a ton of colors and I can’t count the number of messages I got on IG that this was a must have item. So I went with a medium here, while I am likely a 36AA…that was the right choice for the band.
Loose Workout Shorts – Level Up Shorts
These remind me a lot of Free People with the way the band is scrunched and the light flare to the short.
As expected you’ve got a built in liner to keep them very breathable for those who run commando.
They also have a small zippered pocket, which would fit some gels or keys, but not your phone. I admit at this point, I’m pretty sold on the baseline holding my phone, so that’s my go to option.
Pocket Leggings – Lux Pace Leggings (available in multiple lengths)
Ok I mentioned my short torso above and these high waisted tights really make me feel it. They are super comfortable and soft and stay put, but my initial impression was “it’s so high”.
Having chatted with many of you that LOVE a high waist, I doubt that’s a concern.
As noted, these are the 26 inch length and I’d say they pretty much hit me at the ankle, so that’s a big win. Though I do like the 29 inch better (but let’s be honest, I’m gonna wear this red!).
As you can see, there are large pockets on the side of the leg. Again these easily fit a phone and no issue with them pulling the pants down. And VERY IMPORTANT, the pocket doesn’t run all the way you see the seams. It has a mesh catch so your phone or gel isn’t working it’s way down the leg. Sounds silly, but I’ve tested pants like that.
Casual Wear
Athleisure is my style and I like that they understand that with joggers, sweatshirts without logos and writing, and even this coatigan that I’m mildly obsessed with.
I also wanted to test out their joggers. LOVE.
Other joggers feel like the crotch is just hanging down to my mid-thigh, while these are looser than leggings, but still an over all fairly slim fit. For me that style just feels more in line with what I like. Again, lots of personal preferences here! And once again, I was able to get them in tall to solve another common issue.
All right, there you have it. A deep dive Senita review to help you decide if it’s a brand worth testing out for yourself.
If you have tried them, what did you think?
