Easter is a time of fun, eating chocolate and spending time with loved ones, but it’s important to be careful with your young kids.
Australian paramedic Nikki Jurcutz, who is also CEO of parenting organisation Tiny Hearts Education, is warning parents be mindful while selecting Easter eggs for their little ones.
In a video posted to Instagram, parents were warned not to purchase hard solid eggs because like grapes, they are a choking hazard.
Aussie paramedic reveals why some Easter eggs could be a choking hazard for your kids!
“Avoid mini solid eggs this Easter. They are ROUND & HARD which are two big risk factors for choking,” read the caption on the Insta post.
In fact, parents are being advised to opt for eggs that are hollow.
“This year when you are doing Easter shopping for your little one, you are going to see so many of these little mini eggs and they’re delicious but we’re not going to grab them,” say captions in the clip.
“These tiny mini ones are hard and they’re round and we know those are two massive risk factors for choking hazards.”
Easter eggs that could be a choking hazard:
Mini solid Easter eggs including Speckled Eggs.
Hollow Easter eggs are less of a risk:
Buy larger HOLLOW eggs instead!
