Spirit’s Latest Sale Has $42 Flights — but You’ll Need to Book Soon

Spirit Airlines is keeping the Cinco de Mayo celebrations going with a $42 flight sale.

The sale, which must be booked by 11:59 p.m. ET on May 7, is valid on travel from May 13 through June 19 and from Aug. 6 through Oct. 16, Spirit shared with Travel + Leisure. The sale is not available for travel on Fridays or Sundays or during the blackout dates of Sept. 3 and Sept. 4.

Travel from Atlantic City to West Palm Beach, from Atlanta to Chicago, from Nashville to Philadelphia, from Boston to Charleston, and more starting at just $42 one-way. Travelers can also fly cross-country starting at just $81 one-way from Los Angeles to Philadelphia or starting at just $70 one-way from Los Angeles to Chicago.

“We’re helping our Guests keep their festivities going with a flight deal that makes it easier for them to take off on their next vacation,” Lania Rittenhouse, the vice president of guest experience, brand and communications for Spirit Airlines, said in a statement provided to T+L.

Spirit is an ultra-low cost airline that charges passengers for nearly all onboard extras like baggage and seat selection. However, customers who belong to the airline’s paid yearly membership program, the Saver$ Club, can receive discounts on those same extras.

Beyond the sale, travelers can still save on a Spirit flight by booking the tickets at the airport since the airline waives its passenger usage fee for customers who book in person. This way, travelers can save around $23 per ticket each way.

The sale comes as Spirit plans to launch new routes to popular destinations in time for summer, including to Boston, Portland, Ore., and Salt Lake City. The airline will also add flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico, from cities like Houston and New Orleans this month.
