Here’s a recap of our spring break 2025 trip to Bald Head Island!
Hey-o! We’re back from our spring break trip to Bald Head! We had a great time with both sets of grandparents there with the boys. My parents had been in our family house for almost two weeks when we arrived. There was lots of fishing, biking, and swimming. We ended up having great weather that got warmer and sunnier with each day that passed.

Our new Highlander
The most exciting part of our drive down was that our new Grand Highlander arrived at Toyota two days before. So we got to test the new wheels on the 6 hour drive. It’s amazing, and we got it in the nick of time with these dumb tariffs about to destroy the auto industry.

Happy birthday Nona
Our arrival day was Thomas’s mom’s birthday! We settled in and then headed out to dinner at Horizons.

I had a really good salmon dish with the best cheesy grits.

Fishing All Day + Night
The boys, especially Mazen, fished every day off the dock and from the kayak. They caught croaker and even one sheep’s head!

The Sandbar
They also kayaked over to this sandbar that appeared everyday at low tide. It provided lots of fun for them. (I knew Thomas could swim over at any time, but yes I was a little nervous to see my kids on an island in the middle of the marsh alone!)

Wrong Place, Wrong Time
I spent the week reading this book. I did not love it like everyone else! The story was interesting with the time travel and the mystery intriguing, but I thought the book was just very flat.

Leftovers Snack Plate for lunch

My koozie for the week!

Sheppard’s Pie
For dinner on Monday John and Eileen made a delicious Sheppard’s pie.

Sunshine Ahead
On Tuesday we woke up to more sun!

Sunscreen Required!
This is my favorite face sunscreen / tinted moisturizer ever. Get 20% off of Wonderscreen with my link + the code KATHEATS.

I enjoyed some of John’s famous granola. (Here is the recipe: Homemade Nutty Granola)

For lunch I brought several cans of sardines that I made into a salad with chopped carrots, cucumbers, and pickles.

More sandbar time!
I’m telling you the spent hours out there! They found a crab and unfortunately a sharp knife! Luckily no one was injured. Grammie even made a trip over in the kayak!

The Palms
Tuesday night we went to The Palms at the Club for dinner. A few family photos commemorated the event!

Old Fashioned!

Mom and I shared a kale salad and mussels for dinner.

Bird Watching
We stopped by The Outlook on the way home to see the birds resting for the night. No gators though!

Waffles + Shrimp Bait
John made his famous waffles for Wednesday’s breakfast. We said goodbye to Grammie + Pea and then did lots more fishing!

Teenager

I ate more sardines for lunch that were not caught in the marsh!

South Beach Visit
After lunch the men took the boys to the beach where it was barely warm enough to swim if you were under 18 : )

Fancy Night
On Wednesday night we went to The Grille, which is the fancy restaurant at the Club. Beforehand, we went to Bald Head Bottle for cocktails!

I loved my sweet potato Halibut!

Home for tucking in!

Golf + Spa Day
Bagel breakfast!

On Thursday the guys played golf all morning, and I took the boys to the beach in the morning.

This jellyfish looked like a placenta!

Lunch Break

I treated Eileen to a birthday facial and got one myself. I also spent 30 minutes in the infrared sauna. Love the Island Spa.

We had tacos for dinner on Thursday night. Easy peasy.

Friday: Low To High Tide
The day started with sandbar fun.

Pickleball
Followed by a family pickleball game (or playground for Birch).

I got an acai bowl from Midway Coffee for lunch!

Beach Afternoon
Followed by our best beach day yet! It was 67 and full warm sun. Even with sunscreen, I got a little burned without shade!

The boys made this epic sandcastle with the help from Grampa.

Dinner at Jailhouse
We had a nice dinner at Jailhouse before packing and doing a final few casts.

Sea you in June, BHI!
