Ingredients
Banana–Fresh or frozen bananas are a smoothie staple. Not only are bananas and strawberries a perfect match, but they also make the smoothie extra creamy and fill it with vitamins, antioxidants, and potassium.
Strawberries–Use frozen strawberries for a creamy and frosty consistency,or use fresh strawberries for a pop of sweet and tart flavors. You can usually buy fresh strawberries year-round but the best berries are available during the summer.
Milk–Feel free to use regular milk or non-dairy milk.
Yogurt–I like to add vanilla yogurt for extra sweetness and creaminess. Plain yogurt, plain Greek yogurt, and non-dairy yogurt all work well, too.
Instructions
Step 1:Blend. Add all of the ingredients to a blender, then blend until smooth.
Step 2:Serve. Pour the smoothie into a glass, and enjoy!
Tips and FAQs
- Both frozen and fresh fruit work perfectly in this strawberry smoothie recipe. Frozen bananas and strawberries will make the consistency thicker, while fresh fruit will do the opposite. - Make this in a high-powered blender, like a Vitamix,if you can. The powerful motor will liquefy the ingredients in seconds!
Tip
Ice is optionalin this smoothie, but blending in a handful of ice cubes can help thicken the consistency if needed.
Variations
- Strawberry banana protein smoothie–Add a scoop of plain, vanilla, strawberry,or banana-flavored protein powder to the blender. And if you don’t have protein powder, add 3 tablespoons of hemp seeds for an extra 10 grams(!) of protein.
- Dairy-free–Swap the milk and yogurt for non-dairy alternatives, like soy milk or oat milk and coconut or soy-based yogurt.
- Add leafy greens –Like fresh spinach, kale,or a scoop of powdered greens.
- Add more fruit–Like fresh or frozen blueberries, mango, pineapple, cherries, oranges,or a splash of lemon or lime juice.
- Make it sweeter–Add a drizzle of honey, agave nectar,or maple syrup,or add 1 to 2 pitted dates for an extra sweet fruit smoothie.
