Cooking hashbrowns on a Blackstone

A griddle provides a large, flat cooking surface with consistent heat distribution. This ensures that your hash browns cook evenly, avoiding hot spots that can lead to burnt edges and raw centers.

The flat surface of a griddle allows hash browns to spread out in a thin, even layer, maximizing contact with the hot surface. This helps in achieving that perfect crispy texture on the outside while keeping the inside tender and soft.

Griddles are generally larger than standard frying pans, which means you can cook more hash browns at once. This is especially handy when you’re preparing breakfast for a crowd.

Whether you prefer your hash browns shredded, diced, or in patties, a griddle can handle them all. You can also add other ingredients like onions, peppers, or cheese directly on the griddle for a customized flavor.

Ingredients Needed for Blackstone Hashbrowns

  • 2 cups of Simply Hash Brown Potatoes, Shredded
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter, preferably Keri Gold
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, chopped green onions, or sour cream

How to get crispy hashbrowns on a Blackstone

Preheat the Griddle Preheat your griddle to medium-high heat (about 375°F or 190°C). If you don’t have a temperature gauge, you can test by flicking a few drops of water onto the griddle; if they sizzle and evaporate quickly, it’s ready.

Cook the Hash Browns: Add the vegetable oil or melted butter to the griddle, spreading it evenly. Spread the grated potatoes evenly across the griddle in a thin layer. Avoid overcrowding the griddle to ensure even cooking and crispiness.

Flip for Crispy Perfection: Allow the hash browns to cook undisturbed for about 5-7 minutes, or until the bottom is golden brown and crispy. Carefully flip the hash browns using a spatula. If they’re sticking, give them a bit more time to cook. Cook the other side for another 5-7 minutes until crispy and golden brown.

Recipe Tips for Blackstone Hash Browns

  1. For an extra crispy texture, you can cook the hash browns in smaller batches.
  2. If you prefer them softer, you can reduce the cooking time slightly.
  3. Experiment with additional seasonings like garlic powder, paprika, or a pinch of cayenne pepper for added flavor.
  4. I used a bag of Simply Potatoes cause they are already fresh and preshredded but feel free to use fresh potatoes and grate your own. You will have to make sure all the water is drained with a clean kitchen towel.
  5. Enjoy your homemade crispy hash browns!

How do I store leftovers?

Once food has cooled, transfer leftovers into airtight containers. Glass containers are a great choice as they are non-porous and don’t absorb odors or stains. If you prefer plastic, make sure it’s BPA-free and food-grade.

Label the containers with the date to keep track of how long the food has been stored. Most leftovers are best consumed within three to four days.

Blackstone griddles are popular among outdoor cooking enthusiasts because of their versatility and they are also transportable so you can take them camping or to the lake. Unlike traditional grills.

Multipurpose Griddle Scraper – The grill scraper is perfect for quick and easy scraping the bits off the skillet, Barbecue turners helps with flipping the food.
