The Suplest Trail family of clipless mountain bike shoes has gone back and forth over the years trying to find a balance between the high-end performance of their top road and XC shoes, toying with several different closure solutions. Now, an all-new Trail Performance & Sport pairing makes it a simple decision. Pick Boa fine-tuning and a secure velcro strap for a more performance-focused fit. Or stick with good old laces for a more sporty approach and classic looks that transition off the bike.
Tech details
The new Suplest Trail clipless mountain bike shoes are manufactured in Taiwan, something we see more for bikes and components than shoes or apparel. Suplest claims they may be the only international cycling shoe brand producing their shoes there, explaining “We chose Taiwan for its precision in shoe craftsmanship and to live up to our Swiss quality standards.“
Either option you pick – Performance or Sport – you get a durable synthetic single-layer woven mesh upper with bonded TPU reinforcements. There are raised wrap-around heel protection and a full wrap-over toe bumper to keep trail obstacles at bay.
The outsole features Suplest’s own grippy SUPtraction rubber in a zig-zagging pattern. Meant to offer more stability and grip along the outer edges – with a more solid platform under your pedal. Plus, a conventional nylon reinforcement inside offers just enough pedaling support, while retaining walkability off the bike.

The 199€ Trail Performance shoes get a single L6 Boa dial to finely adjust fit across the mid-foot and a wide velcro strap up top to lock it all into place.
The 169€ Trail Sport sticks with conventional laces to keep cost down and off-the-bike style up.
