The good news is that more and more keto desserts and sweet snacks are hitting the market. Of course, that means more options. But, these sweet snacks and desserts continue to improve in flavor as competition increases.

We’ve bought and tried many popular keto desserts and sweet snacks from grocers and online. Here are some of our favorite treats based on taste and keto-friendly ingredients.

Image of bag of ChocZero Dark Chocolate and Almond Bark

ChocZero makes tasty keto dark chocolate bark with almonds, which is a yummy treat when you’re craving chocolate. And the dark chocolate and almond bark gets the flavor right — in fact, you may not even guess it’s sugar-free or keto-friendly. It tastes like the real deal.

ChocZero also makes milk chocolate and white chocolate bark with almonds, which aren’t too bad (but not as good the the dark chocolate!).

Many large grocers sell ChocZero bark like Whole Foods or Kroger. Of course, you can always order from Amazon as well.

Each serving-size, about 4 by 2 inches, is 2 grams of net carbs The ingredients in the dark chocolate are decent and keto friendly.

Dark chocolate and almond bark ingredients: dark chocolate (unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter), Non-GMO resistant dextrin, almond, sea salt, sunflower lecithin, monk fruit extract, Madagascar bourbon vanilla beans.

Image of Rip Van LEOS oreo style cookies

If you love Oreo cookies, then you’ll like these keto-friendly Oreo-style cookies by Rip Van Leos. They’re similar in flavor to regular Oreos and there is little to no aftertaste or cooling effect that comes with alternative sweeteners.

The ingredients do include sugar but it’s somewhat minimal in amount. For two cookies, it’s 5 grams of net carbs. We haven’t seen these cookies at local grocers but it typically varies by local. Of course, you can always get on Amanzy.

Ingredients include Wheat Flour, Palm Fruit Oil, Sugar, Vegetable Fiber (Chicory Root, Soluble Corn), Allulose, Cocoa Processed with Alkali, Sugar Cane Fiber, Sea Salt, Sunflower Lecithin, Natural Flavor and Stevia Leaf Extract.

If you’re looking for other sugar-free, Oreo-style alternatives, Catalina Crunch and HighKey also make decent tasting cookies and cream cookies.

Image of Swerve Sweets Chocolate Cake Mix

We love Swerve Sweets Chocolate Cake Mix since it’s moist, has little to no aftertaste, and is sweet but not too sweet. Even the texture is decent.

We prefer the Swerve cake mix over the Duncan Hines cake mix (although Duncan Hines does well with their mug cakes). Each slice of cake is 3 grams of net carbs.

Plus, many grocers now carry Swerve’s chocolate cake mix, so it’s easy to get. And like most cake mixes, it’s easy to make — you simply add a few wet ingredients to the mix, stir and bake.

Most of the ingredients are keto-friendly with the exception of tapioca starch. However, since it’s lower in the list of ingredients it’s probably fairly low as a percentage.

Ingredients: Blanched Almond Flour, Swerve (Erythritol, Prebiotic Oligosaccharides, Natural Flavors), Cocoa (Processed With Alkali), Organic Coconut Flour, Tapioca Starch, Baking Soda, Sea Salt, Cream Of Tartar.

Image of Quest Peanut Butter Cups

More brands are selling keto-friendly peanut butter cups like Lily’s, Atkins, Quest and ChocZero. Of course, none of these are replicas of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, but they’re pretty decent in terms of taste and texture.

We prefer to purchase Quest Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups for several reasons. First, they taste decent and have minimal aftertaste or texture issues. Second, they’re high in protein (11 grams per serving), which makes them more satiating. Lastly, they’re low in carbs — each serving of two cups is just 1 net carb — and the ingredients are decent.

You can find them at many large grocers or online. Like most keto products, they’re fairly expensive so you may want to shop around for the best price.

Quest Peanut Butter Cup Ingredients: Whey Protein Isolate, Erythritol, Unsweetened Chocolate, Cocoa Butter, Peanuts, Palm Kernel Oil, Soluble Corn Fiber, Sodium Caseinate. Contains Less Than 2% Of The Following: Sunflower Lecithin, Sea Salt, Butterfat, Natural Flavor, Peanut Oil, Sucralose.

Image of Rebel Butter Pecan Ice Cream

Rebel Ice Cream produces one of the tastiest keto-friendly ice creams on the market. Plus, their ice creams use quality, keto-friendly ingredients and have some of the lowest net carbs per serving (compared to other keto ice creams on the market). And, you can find their ice creams at many large grocers.

If you haven’t had sugar-free and keto-friendly ice creams yet, you’ll find that the flavor and texture is different from regular ice cream. Right out of the freezer, the texture of most keto-friendly ice creams is a little dry and chalky. But as it warms, it becomes smoother and creamier. There is somewhat of an aftertaste with these ice creams, too, due to the alternative sweeteners, but we don’t mind it too much in our favorite flavors.

The net carbs in Rebel Ice Creams range from 4 to 8 net grams per serving depending on the flavor. Popular flavors include salted caramel (our favorite), triple chocolate, butter pecan, mint chip, coffee chip, peanut butter fudge, vanilla, and strawberry.

Common ingredients in Rebel Ice Cream include cream, egg yolk, erythritol, monk fruit, milk protein isolate, chicory root fiber, vegetable glycerin, gums, natural flavors, and other inclusions, depending on the flavor, such as sugar-free chocolate chips, mint, peanut butter, etc.

Since many large grocers now carry Rebel Ice Cream, it’s a great take-and-go sweet snack or dessert — you just need a freezer to store it in.

Image of Sola Granola bag

Sola Maple Pecan Chocolate Granola is one of the tastiest keto granolas on the market. It’s full of sweet and crunchy nuts with bits of chocolate. There is a little aftertaste from the alternative sweetener, but the granola is still tasty and delicious on its own or with almond milk.

This crunchy, keto-friendly snack is high in protein (14 grams) and low in carbs (4 grams of net carbs). You can find it at many large supermarkets like Kroger or online.

Most of the ingredients are keto-friendly with the exception of maltitol, which is apparently minimal in amount, anywhere from 0.5 to 4 grams per serving (which assists with browning during the baking process).

Maple Pecan Chocolate ingredients include: Almonds, soy crisp (Soy protein isolate, tapioca starch, salt), sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, erythritol, sunflower oil, chocolate chip (cane sugar, unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter), water, tagatose, pecans, maltitol, coconut, natural maple flavor with other natural flavors, flax meal, sea salt, monk fruit extract, xanthan gum, stevia leaf extract.

Image of HighKey Chocolate Chip Mini Cookies

Most low-carb and keto cookies on the market aren’t quite there yet in terms of taste and texture. That said, HighKey cookies are one of our favorites so far.

HighKey Mini Cookies taste somewhat similar to standard cookies and come in a variety of flavors like chocolate chip, vanilla wafer, snickerdoodle and brownie bites.

When eating, you’ll notice the cookies have a slight aftertaste and cooling sensation from the erythritol sweetener. They’re also a little hard and crumbly, but we don’t find that too off-putting.

For 6 mini cookies, there are 2 net grams of carbs. Most larger grocers now carry these cookies including Target, Kroger, and Costco. You can also order a variety of HighKey cookie flavors from Amazon.

The ingredients for the Chocolate Chip Mini Cookies are low-carb and keto-friendly.

Ingredients include: almond flour, natural sweetener (erythritol, monk fruit extract, mogroside v), chocolate chips (unsweetened chocolate, erythritol, cocoa butter, stevia extract, sunflower lecithin), coconut oil, butter, prebiotic fiber, dried eggs, vanilla extract, baking powder, hydrolyzed collagen, sea salt, xanthan gum, and guar gum.

Image of Swerve Sweets Brownie Mix

If you haven’t had low-carb or keto-friendly brownies, you should be aware that they’re not like regular brownies (due to texture, flavor and aftertaste). However, some keto-friendly brownie mixes are definitely better than others. And when it comes to brownie mixes, Swerve Sweets is one of the better brands out there.

Swerve Sweets Brownie Mix is easy to prepare, tastes fairly decent and is great to have around when chocolate cravings hit. The brownies are rich and chocolaty and are best when eaten on the first day of baking. They do have a little aftertaste from the erythritol sweetener and the texture is a little grainy from the almond flour.

Many grocers now carry it, which makes it convenient to purchase.

The brownies have 5 net carbs per serving. Most ingredients are keto-friendly with the exception of tapioca starch, which is somewhat lower in the list of ingredients.

Ingredients: Blanched almond flour, Swerve (Erythritol, Prebiotic Oligosaccharides, Natural Flavors), Cocoa (Processed With Alkali), Tapioca Starch, Organic Coconut Flour, Natural flavor, Sea Salt, Baking Soda.

Image of Quest Hero Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar

Quest Hero Bars are protein-rich, sweet snack bars that are a cross between a candy bar and a protein bar. They’re a little bigger than protein bars and serve as a rather filling snack between meals.

Quest hero line of bars uses allulose as a sweetener, which has virtually no aftertaste, unlike many other alternative sweeteners. They’re bars aren’t too sweet and do have a protein vibe in taste (although we think it’s fairly minimal). That said, it’s hard to find keto-friendly and protein-rich bars that taste this yummy

Other Quest Hero Bar flavors include crispy chocolate caramel pecan, crispy blueberry cobbler flavor and crispy chocolate coconut flavor. Our favorite flavor, hands down, is the chocolate peanut butter.

The chocolate peanut bar has 19 grams of protein, 3 net carbs, and 5 grams of fiber. the ingredients include Protein blend (Milk Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Isolate), Allulose, Palm Kernel Oil, Peanuts, Erythritol, Soluble Corn Fiber, Water, Sodium Caseinate, Cocoa Processed with Alkali. Image of Duncan Hines Keto Friendly Birthday Cake Mix

If you have access to a microwave, then Duncan Hines keto-friendly mug cakes are a yummy snack or dessert when you’re craving something sweet. We’ve tried a few other brands, but, in terms of taste, Duncan Hines keto-friendly mug cakes are our favorite.

That said, don’t expect these keto-friendly mug cakes to taste like regular mug cakes. The texture is a little grainy (due to almond flour) and there is somewhat of an aftertaste due to the alternative sweeteners. But, all in all, they’re fairly tasty given the alternative ingredients.

Most larger grocers now carry Duncan Hines keto-friendly mug cakes. To make, you simply add water and melted butter, stir and microwave.

Birthday Cake Mix is one of the company’s most popular flavors. It has 5 grams of net carbs per serving and 9 grams of protein. Other flavors include walnut fudge brownie (another favorite) and double chocolate cake mix.

They’re mainly sweetened with erythritol and each serving has 10 grams of protein and 4 net carbs.
