Paying for your next JetBlue flight just got a lot easier.
Starting today, U.S.-based travelers can now use Venmo to pay for flights at checkout, the airline announced in a statement. This widely used peer-to-peer mobile payment app, powered by PayPal, allows users to send payments to individuals and retailers using their Venmo balance, linked bank accounts, or debit and credit cards.
“We’re continually looking for ways to make it easier to book a JetBlue flight on our website and mobile app,” said JetBlue’s chief digital and technology officer, Carol Clements. “Adding Venmo offers a seamless payment option for customers who enjoy the ease and convenience of the Venmo platform.”
JetBlue has become the first U.S. airline to introduce Venmo as a payment option, available exclusively for reservations made directly on its website. However, later this spring, Venmo will also be introduced as a payment option on the airline’s mobile app, making it even easier to pay for flights.
The new payment option is under the “Secure Payment” tab at checkout. To use Venmo, travelers need to log in to their accounts with their username and password.
In recent years, major airlines like American Airlines and Delta Air Lines have expanded their payment options by introducing book-now, pay-later services at checkout. These options, including platforms like Affirm, PayPal, and Klarna, allow travelers to spread their payments over an extended period.
