Stowe, Vermont, might be known as a winter playground, but the town’s newest hotel wants to let the world know that the ski-mad town is not just about the snow. Outbound Stowe is the latest property from the boutique group Outbound Hotels, which operates in some of America’s other great adventure towns like Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Mammoth Lakes, California. Now open, the hotel is set to be a haven for the adventurous-minded (and adventure-curious) all year.
Nestled on nine acres just outside downtown Stowe, the 73-room property leans into its New England surroundings for design inspirations. With clean-line architecture that fuses the minimalism of traditional Vermont woodworking and colorful furnishings that blend a mountain and contemporary aesthetic, the hotel is anything but rustic.
In the warmer months, guests can take advantage of the property’s swimming pool, which is one of the largest in Vermont. And when the weather turns colder, visitors can continue to enjoy the outdoors with Outbound Stowe’s hot tub and fire pits.
Guests will have their pick of accommodations including traditional guest rooms and suites adorned with vintage-inspired light fixtures, plaid carpets, an abundance of natural wood, and pops of bold blues, greens, and reds in the textiles and the art. Private Scandinavian-style wood cabins with large A-frame picture windows, as well as a cottage, and a lofted suite in a converted barn, are also on offer.
Stowe has no shortage of dining options, but Outbound Stowe’s on-site restaurant, Eastside, is set to earn its place on the local map. The casual restaurant’s menu will feature a healthy dose of Vermont cheeses, plus hyperlocal craft beers and cocktails, including a few accented with Vermont maple syrup liqueurs.
Outbound Stowe is an ideal jumping-off point to explore the region, as it’s just a 15-minute drive from Mt. Mansfield, the highest mountain in Vermont, and near the trout-filled West Branch River. But with plans to offer a full calendar of guided hikes and bike rides, photography and nature conservation workshops, and yoga and meditation classes, as well as direct access to the Stowe Recreation Path, guests needn’t stray from the property.
Nightly rates start at $200 and you can book your stay at outboundhotels.com.
