This Southern U.S. Neighborhood Was Just Named the Most Insta-worthy Spot in America

Hoping to make all your friends a little jealous of your travels on social media? Then we know exactly where you should go next.

In late October, the hotel chain Premier Inn released its findings for its study on the most Insta-worthy spots in the U.S. It came to its conclusion after analyzing 1,066 destinations that are regularly touted as “Instagram landmarks,” chosen by the team after completing what they called “desk research.” It excluded landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Big Ben to ensure the list was made up of lesser-known spots. The team then searched each destination Instagram, recording the number of posts and hashtags mentioning the spot. Those with the most posts were deemed the most popular and crowned “Insta Landmarks.”

After looking at all that data, it named Miami’s Wynwood Walls the most Instagram-worthy destination in the nation.

“Wynwood Walls takes the crown as the most posted landmark on Instagram — just shy of a million hashtag posts for the location,” the team explained in its findings. “It’s a world-famous outdoor street art museum that showcases huge murals from some of the most prominent graffiti artists worldwide. Murals are always popular on Instagram, so it’s no surprise that so many people flock to this location to snap a few pics for socials. The artwork changes periodically too, so it’s a location Instagrammers could visit again and again for fresh content.”

As the official Wynwood Walls website further explains, the outdoor museum, founded by developer Tony Goldman, opened in 2009, and appearing here has “become a career-defining moment for contributing artists.” It was originally conceived as a way to showcase large-scale street art in the neighborhood, but now, people from all over the world come to gaze on the massive works by some of the art world’s most renowned graffiti artists.

Fell’s Point in Baltimore came in a close second, with 326,872 posts, with people loving its cobblestone streets and water views. It was followed by Pennsylvania’s Longwood Gardens, a 1,000-acre park, in third with 311,253 posts.

These destinations were joined by Acorn Street in Boston in fourth, followed by Piedmont Park and Ponce City Market, both in Atlanta, The High Line in New York City, Seven Magic Mountains in Las Vegas, Valley of Fire State Park also in Nevada, and the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah rounding out the top 10.
