This Tiktoker’s Souvenir Idea May Be the Sweetest One yet

Many travelers have rather specific opinions on what is the best souvenir to come home with after each trip. But if you’re someone who hasn’t quite figured out what your souvenir style is, TikToker BenTheBasic has an idea for you. 

“Stop buying boring souvenirs and do this instead,” Ben begins in a post that has amassed almost 100,000 likes.

He goes on to explain that he got married a year ago, and he and his husband have made it their mission to collect something memorable on each trip. 

“Whenever we go somewhere that we want to remember or it’s a new country together for the first time, we buy something to pot a plant in,” he explains while holding up his various planters from Mexico, France, and England.

“I bring it home, we put a plant in it, and then it’s sitting in the house and growing with us and a super fun way to remember a new place,” he added.

And of course, his planters aren’t your basic ceramic plant pots, but rather, colorful cups, a mustache-adored vessel, and a tea box, ensuring each destination shines through the object.  

To date, the video also received 1,000 comments praising the tip, with many commenters tossing out their own unique souvenir advice. 

“We do Christmas ornaments. So whenever we put our tree up, we end up talking about each of them and the trips we took,” one person commented.

And, as one more commenter noted, there’s an added benefit to Ben’s tip. With his souvenir of choice, you also “get to buy a new plant.”
