Why You Will Like this Recipe
This egg boil fascinated me because of how different and unique the recipe was. I’ve never seen hard-boiled eggs being made this way before. It almost kind of reminded me of a shakshuka recipe with fried eggs in a pan.
The sauce is very flavorful with all the different types of seasonings being used.
Hard boiled eggs can be made so many different ways just use whatever method works best for you. I prefer my air fryer or just buying some store-bought hard-boiled eggs.
Ingredients Needed for Egg Boil
- Hard Boiled Eggs –You can easily make hard boiled eggs in your air fryer. Check out my recipe for Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs.
- Butter – is the most commonly used type of butter in baking,as it allows for more control over the amount of salt in the recipe.
- Garlic –Chopped fresh garlic can take some time to chop so I often always use the freshly minced garlic that comes already made in a jar.
- Chicken Broth–The best type of stock to use is one that is homemade. For canned stock,I look for ones that say reduced sodium or fat free.
- Lemon Juice – Is a citrus juice made from squeezing fresh lemons. It is commonly used as a flavoring agent in cooking,baking,and beverages. Bottled lemon juice is also ok to use.
- Old Bay Seasoning–Its distinctive mixture,which includes celery salt,black pepper,crushed red pepper flakes,and paprika,among other spices,lends an incomparable flavor to seafood,poultry,and even snacks like popcorn and chips.
- Paprika –is a spice made from ground,dried fruits of Capsicum annuum,a type of pepper plant. It is typically sweet and mild,but can also have a slightly bitter or spicy taste depending on the variety used.
- Oregano– is a common herb used in cooking,particularly in Mediterranean and Mexican cuisine. It has a pungent,slightly bitter taste and a strong aroma
- Garlic Powder–is made from dehydrated garlic cloves and like the chili powder above it gets pulverized into a powder or flour consistency.
- Onion Powder –Onion powder is dehydrated,ground onion that is commonly used as a seasoning. Some people do not like the taste of freshly chopped onion so onion powder is a great substitute if you have a picky eater like that in your house.
- Brown Sugar–Is made by combining granulated white sugar with molasses,which gives it a brown color and a slightly different taste than regular white sugar
- Red Pepper Flakes and Siracha for some extra heat!

How to Make an Egg Boil
Step 1:Make the hard boiled eggs! You can do this with whatever method you prefer. I like to use my air fryer to make them. 285 for 16 to 18 minutes. You can also use store bought already made hard boiled eggs.
Step 2:Add all of the ingredients except the eggs to a saucepan over medium heat. Stir and saute for 5 minutes.
Step 3:Place the hard-boiled eggs into the saucepan,and simmer for 5-6 minutes,turning often in the sauce.
Recipe Tip:Serve the eggs in a bowl or dish covered in the sauce. It’s not the prettiest looking dish but the sauce is pretty darn good with the eggs in it.
Equipment
Equipment can have a big impact on how a recipe turns out. Stone bakeware takes longer to heat up than metal pans,and also retain heat for longer,which could make the recipe more watery,or burnt on the outsides.
I used an air fryerto cook the hard boiled eggs in. Plus a goodnon stick skilletto make the sauce.
Storage
Any leftover sauce can be stored in an air tight container and be kept in the fridge for the next day. I’d also store the hard boiled eggs separate in a different container if you plan making any more of this later on.
