When you’re getting on a plane and heading to Cancun, you’re probably ready to drop all the work worries and enjoy some sun and fun. You want to return fully relaxed and recharged, right? So go all the way and book one of the Cancun spa resorts so you can make sure your body unwinds and your stress gets massaged away.
Cancun is the most popular resort destination in the Americas and for good reasons. You get a gorgeous white-sand beach, water so colorful it sometimes looks like it’s been Photoshopped, and lots of excursions nearby you can take advantage of. Air connections are great from Canada, the USA, and the UK and there are a fair number of flights from elsewhere in Europe too.
The company with the biggest presence in the area is Mexico’s largest hotel chain, the Posadas Group, and their Travelty Collection. The brand may not be as well-known as some of the larger international conglomerates, but they’re worth getting to know if you’re a regular visitor to Mexico. It’s also worth joining their frequent guest program—Fiesta Rewards—to rack up points and get extra perks.
The Travelty Collection includes quite a few resorts to choose from in Cancun, but here are the ones to check out if you’re ready to spend some time in a good spa on your next vacation. For the all-inclusive ones, spa treatments usually aren’t part of the plan, but often you can enjoy the spa facilities even if you don’t get a treatment and always check into the rates specials when booking: sometimes there are deals running that will include a spa credit you can use for a luxurious massage, body wrap, or facial.
Live Aqua Cancun
This long-established luxury hotel is, in many respects, the top all-inclusive resort in Cancun. It has more extensive grounds and landscaping than many of the other properties around and a great spot in the hotel zone right on the main beach strip. You can take it all in from their casual seafood restaurant overlooking the beach, sharing a bucket of beers. The pool complex is especially impressive here, with different pools for different moods, including one for laps and another with a hopping bar.
The Feel Harmony Spa by Live Aqua is a member of the worldwide Natura Bissé collection and you can be sure that the treatment products will be of the highest possible quality. The spa features 12 indoor treatment areas and 4 outdoor treatment areas, plus, steam baths, saunas, jacuzzis, and a temazcal (sweat lodge). The treatments are wide-ranging and include a citrus scrub, an aloe vera wrap, and “Four Hands Fusion.”
This is all just the start, however, with some excellent restaurants to choose from and several different bars (plus a more exclusive one on the club floor for those guests). See our full review of Live Aqua Cancun and make a booking at the hotel website. Take a video tour here:
Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Resort
The full name of this Travelty resort is actually even longer, with “All-inclusive Spa Resort” on the end. And what a spa it is! This may be the most impressive hydrotherapy set-up we’ve ever experienced (see the photo at the top and another at the very bottom). I got to visit it twice over the years and I would be happy to spend a third day there again. The huge room that’s focused on the water has various stations where water massages you and pummels you in all the right areas, from head to toe.
That’s just part of the complex of course: you can relax before or after your massage or facial in a steam room, sauna, or additional whirlpools. The best bet is to let your spa concierge guide you around though. There’s a circuit that alternates the hot rooms with an ice bath and pools with rocks that massage your feet. Unlike in some other Cancun spa resorts where the facilities outside outside of the treatment cabins feel like an afterthought, here you could easily spend an hour or two apart from your treatment getting fully relaxed.
If you’re traveling as a family, you can drop off the kids before all this too so you don’t have to be in a hurry. There’s a full kids club on site, with plenty of scheduled activities, and this resort is a playground for the whole family.
The Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Resort is not in the main hotel zone, it’s around the corner on what feels like a private beach, with a huge swimming pool complex above it. Here’s a look at it from above, which was the view from my suite!
Kempinski Hotel Cancun
The Kempinski brand is a household name in Europe, but is just dipping its toes in the water in the Americas, so the Posadas Group is involved in running the former Ritz-Carlton occupying a huge stretch of waterfront in Cancun. This 363-room resort is huge, but is focused on fine dining and a superlative experience for guests who are going the a la carte route instead of the all-inclusive norm for the area.
If you were just dropped into the lobby or one of the upscale restaurants, you’d probably think you’d landed in a city hotel instead of a beach resort. There’s nothing casual about the furnishings and decor inside. Once you venture out the doors, however, you find a pool complex perched over the gorgeous Cancun beach.
The Kayanta Spa at Kempinski Hotel Cancun takes inspiration from ancient Mayan therapies and uses indigenous ingredients from the Yucatan Peninsula in its treatments. The extensive spa menu includes a variety of massages of different intensity, scrubs, wraps, and more, most lasting 80 minutes or more.

Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancun All Inclusive
There are actually three Fiesta Americana brand resorts in Cancun proper. The Condesa Cancun one is a good all-inclusive choice for parents who want to keep the kids happy. Located on a long stretch of beach in the hotel zone, this 507-room sprawling resort has family pools, kid-friendly menus, and a club with activities for the little ones.
When you’re ready for “me time” though, the Miiluma Spa by Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancun will scrub and massage your cares away. You can get your rubdown in an indoor cabin or out by the beach. Treatment choices include interesting options using local ingredients likebeach honey exfoliation, chocolate wrap, aloe wrap, and options using tequila, guava, or avocado.
Room rates much of the year make this an affordable place to go for an upgrade and have more room to spread out. See more information at the Condesa Cancun website and check rates for your dates there.
