Piacenza – Torino 230.8 km
Our Italian adventure is coming to an end with a long slog to what has to be an inevitable sprint. They are quite literally riding along the Po river so the challenges are limited.
Interesting tidbit is that today is the first use of the new 3-km rule which essentially makes it a 5 km rule and allowing for longer gaps (50m) on the line for big group finishes while still getting the same finishing time. All with the ambition to make for safer and less crowded sprint finishes.
Estimated finish time: 16:55-17:30 CEST
Vecchia signora of the Day: Jasper Philipsen
I’m sorry but there’s just nothing that gives any indication why he and Alpecin shouldn’t keep coming out on top. He’s good, they’re good and they have an absolute focus on him for these stages so the odds are in his favor. Also Alpecin has that whole “black&white winning assholes” vibe that fits perfectly for Turin.
