Why You Will Like Butterscotch Bars
On Saturday and Sunday mornings you can catch me watching cooking shows on Food Network. It’s fun to test and try out new recipes from different Food Network chefs. I’ll also share the recipe on this blog with you guys if I think it’s worthy! Like this recipe for Butterscotch Peanut Butter Bars from Trisha Yearwood.
Trisha has been one of my favorites to follow for a while now and I’m still watching her. I absolutely love these butterscotch peanut butter bars of hers. They make me think of Harry Potter and ButterBeer.
Ingredients Needed for Butterscotch Bars

- Butterscotch chips –Butterscotch is a type of confectionery made from butter and brown sugar. If you don’t like the taste of butterscotch try white chocolate chips or Reese’s peanut butter baking chips.
- Butter – softened at room temperature
- Granulated sugar and brown sugar –for sweetness
- Creamy Peanut Butter –Use real peanut butter that is made with just ground peanuts and salt.
- Egg – 1 large egg,at room temp
- Vanilla –Real vanilla extract,no imitation crap 😉
- Flour,salt,oatmeal for dry ingredients

How to make Butterscotch Peanut Butter Bars

Step 1Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9-by-13-by-2-inch baking dish with butter.
Step 2Using an electric mixer,cream the butter,granulated sugar,brown sugar and ½ cup of the peanut butter. Add the egg and vanilla.
Step 3Sift the flour with the baking soda and the salt. Mix the oatmeal into the flour and stir the flour into the creamed mixture.
Step 4 Spread the batter in the baking pan. Sprinkle the butterscotch chips over the batter and bake for 20 to 25 minutes,until browned around the edges.
Step 5Whisk together the confectioners’sugar,milk and the remaining ¼ cup of the peanut butter until smooth,then spread the glaze evenly over the warm bars. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.

- ½ cup(1stick) butter,room temperature,plus more for greasing
- ½ cupgranulated sugar
- ½ cuppacked brown sugar
- ½ cupplus ¼ cup creamy peanut butter
