TSA Just Added 4 More Airlines to Its Precheck Program

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) just made its popular trusted traveler program more valuable, adding four more international airlines to TSA PreCheck.

Irish carrier Aer Lingus, Air New Zealand, Ethiopian Airlines, and Saudia are the latest additions to the TSA PreCheck program, the agency announced on Monday. Passengers enrolled in the program can now use expedited security lanes when departing the U.S. or when flying on a domestic connection upon returning from an international trip on any of these carriers.

In total, nearly 100 airlines participate in the popular trusted traveler program, making it more widely available to travelers than ever before. These four airlines are a welcome addition as airports are busier than ever before this summer and will allow for much faster security screening at more than 200 participating airports around the country.

TSA PreCheck offers a separate lane dedicated to pre-approved travelers, allowing for much faster security. These travelers can keep their shoes, belts, and light jackets on, as well as their laptops and liquids in carry-on bags. Children under 17 traveling with parents or guardians can also visit the PreCheck lane if the adults are enrolled in the program.

For a long time, travelers have had to fill out an application online, pay the $78 enrollment fee, and schedule an in-person interview to complete the process. However, the agency has expanded its enrollment options, and travelers can now sign up (or renew their five-year membership) at participating Clear lanes in major hubs such as Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and Denver International Airport (DEN).

The TSA is continuing to improve the airport security experience in other ways, such as expanding its mobile ID program to more states. The program is currently available for travelers with licenses issued in Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, New York, and Utah.
