Vacation Home Company Pacaso Is Offering Free Stays to Victims of the Los Angeles Wildfires

Vacation home company Pacaso has created a program that helps homeowners donate stays to victims of the Los Angeles wildfires. Here’s how it works: Homeowners who list their homes on Pacaso can donate vacation homes and Pacaso connects with those in need to set up the stays. People who have lost their Los Angeles homes or are in an active evacuation zone should email donations@pacaso.com.

One important caveat, according to a brand spokesperson: “Most of the available donated inventory is out-of-state or ways away from L.A. County, but we do have donated stays in places like Santa Barbara, Palm Springs, San Diego, and Lake Tahoe.”

Not only are homeowners donating stays, but to ensure victims have little to no out-of-pocket costs, Pacaso “is covering all fees associated with these short-term stays,” a brand spokesperson confirmed. Each home has essentials, including toiletries, toilet paper, and filtered water.

“We are stepping in to offer temporary housing to as many people as we can who were displaced by these fires,” said Austin Allison, Pacaso’s CEO, in a LinkedIn post on Friday that encouraged those in need to email immediately. “I’d like to extend a personal thank you to all our owners who have made their homes available.”

Pacaso owners who have not yet donated their homes but are interested in doing so can also email donations@pacaso.com.

Travel + Leisure continues to update this list of hotels and vacation rentals offering free or discounted stays to those who have been displaced by the Los Angeles wildfires. We encourage hotels and vacation rental companies that still have space to comment at the bottom of this article and let displaced locals and travelers know about free rooms or discounts.
