Wanda Diamond League reveals 2025 track and field schedule

On Wednesday, the Wanda Diamond League revealed its highly anticipated 2025 season schedule, featuring 15 thrilling meets across four continents and 13 countries. The season kicks off on April 26 in Xiamen, China, and concludes with the Diamond League Final at Weltklasse Zurich on Aug. 27-28.

This upcoming season aligns with the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, set for Sept. 13-21, giving athletes several chances to hit qualifying times and standards leading up to the major competition of the year.

All 32 Diamond League champions will be crowned at the 2025 series final in Zurich, with a record prize pool of USD 9.24 million, along with the prestigious Diamond Trophy. The competition remains one of the sport’s most sought-after titles outside the World Championships and Olympic Games.

The Road to the Diamond League Final begins in Xiamen on April 26, followed by another meet in China, scheduled for May 3 in Shanghai. From there, the series moves to Doha, Rabat, and Rome, marking the start of the European leg. In June and July, the Diamond League will visit some of the sport’s most iconic venues, including Oslo, Stockholm, Paris, Monaco and London. The Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Ore., a fan favourite for the North American audience, shifts from its traditional May date to later in the season—July 5.

Each track and field discipline will be contested between four and seven times throughout the 14 meets, giving athletes plenty of opportunities to qualify for the Diamond League Final.

This past season, Sarah Mitton made history as the first Canadian female athlete to win a Diamond League title in a field event. Canada’s Marco Arop took bronze at the Diamond League Final after a record-setting 800m season, during which he also earned his first Olympic medal at Paris 2024.
