After their 2022 championship run, it didn’t take the Warriors long until their entire roster was scattered. They lost Poole, JTA, and other key assets. The Dubs introduced Chris Paul in exchange for Poole last year, which was not a smart move. There is hope for betterment, but it would mean a makeover of their current roster. Hoping that the Dubs do consider targeting an All-Star, they can look to add a shooting guard, knowing the Klay Thompson situation. The Warriors can look to the East to trade for Jimmy Butler.
There are a lot of factors in how this trade would work out. One of the first things the Warriors may give out in this trade is Chris Paul. Along with the veteran, younger guys like Moody or Jackson-Davis can also work out. In a recent episode of the Bill Simmons podcast, Bill talked about how the Dubs can regain their credibility. “The way the Warriors become involved in conversations is if they just f****** lost it and like, traded for Jimmy Butler. Crazy Movie, like they could trade Chris Paul for like another week. So they could do, Kuminga, Chris Paul, all their picks and try to get somebody.”, said Bill.
CP3 joined the Warriors after he was traded to the Wizards and picked up by the Dubs in exchange for Poole. For starters, Paul is still one of the most consistent mid-range shooters in the league. His playmaking and in-game IQ make up for a traditional point guard, making him a crucial asset on every team he’s played for. However, things didn’t work his way in Golden State. Besides, Green and Curry are in the last two years of their contract. The Warriors have to make the best out of the next two seasons before the core of the team calls it.

Adding Jimmy Butler in place of Klay, the Dubs will be looking at themselves as a playoff threat next season. Fans were expecting the Heat to make a deep run, taking the 2023 postseason in context. However, playing alongside Curry and Green, Butler just might get along with the two to form yet another trio in the Bay.
Jimmy Butler may be the Warriors’ next missing piece
In the last five postseasons, Butler and the Heat have been the main story in the East. Making three Conference Finals appearances in the last five years, Butler’s leadership speaks volumes. The Warriors can use a player like him, especially on their defensive end. At the end of the day, many would consider Butler an all-rounder, being active on both ends of the floor. His energy would greatly complement the movement of the Warriors, helping their offense to become more dynamic.

While Jimmy is not a primary outside shooter, other aspects of the game can compensate for the same. If the Warriors do consider bringing him in next season, they’ll have a contender-like presence in the West. Butler has what it takes to lead his team to the Finals, whereas Green and Curry know how to dig for success in the final showdown.
